Present price information clearly in business directory profiles

Distinguish fixed prices, starting prices and quotations in local listings, and keep service scope and changing charges understandable for prospective customers.

A number is useful only when the customer understands what it buys. Directory price fields can compress a service into a short label, leaving room for assumptions about materials, duration or extras. Choose wording that explains the basis of the price and makes the next step clear when a quote is required.

01 / 05Choose the right pricing description

Separate a fixed price from an estimate or a starting figure. A fixed charge should correspond to a defined offering; a starting price should not be presented as the likely total for every customer. If the cost depends on inspection, quantity or location, describe the quotation process. Avoid filling a price field with a token number that does not represent an available service.

02 / 05State the scope alongside the amount

Explain the unit: per appointment, per item, per hour or another meaningful basis. Identify major inclusions and point customers to details of relevant extras. A service lasting a stated period should not be confused with an open-ended job. Keep the profile concise, but do not shorten the wording so far that the customer cannot tell which version of the service is being priced.

03 / 05Handle variable work with a clear enquiry

For bespoke work, explain what information the business needs to prepare an estimate. That might include photographs, measurements or a description of the problem, shared through a suitable private contact route. Do not request customer documents in public directory comments. Describe how the estimate will be confirmed and avoid implying that an initial discussion locks in a final charge.

04 / 05Keep promotions separate from normal charges

A dated offer should identify its period and the service it covers. Keep it out of permanent description text when a dedicated offer field is available. Remove the promotion when it ends, including image captions that still display the old amount. Check that the booking or ordering page reflects the same terms rather than leaving directory visitors to discover a different charge later.

05 / 05Create a price update trail

Record who approves public prices and which profiles display them. When rates change, review service lists, booking links and old promotional graphics together. Compare the published amount after saving, particularly if a platform reformats currency or units. If the business cannot maintain specific figures across directories, a clear quotation statement is preferable to leaving known outdated prices visible.
